Equality & Justice for All
We must end systemic inequities in our society.
In the tapestry of our nation’s history, woven with the threads of countless cultures, identities and stories, the ideals of equality and justice shine brightly as the guiding principles that bring us together. Our commitment to these ideals reflects the promise of the American dream: a promise that every individual, regardless of their race, gender, religion, sexuality or background, has an equal opportunity to succeed and thrive. As we move forward, we must ensure that our policies, institutions and actions consistently uphold this commitment, recognizing that our strength lies in our diversity and our unity.
Our country has seen a rising tide of intolerance unwitnessed for over 60 years. There is no place in our country for a national religious doctrine, and every individual has the right to their own beliefs but without using those beliefs as a weapon against the autonomy and freedom of others. However, true justice is not merely the absence of discrimination. True justice involves the active dismantling of barriers that hinder the progress of many in our society. It is about ensuring all voices are heard, their rights are protected and they are treated fairly in every facet of life. We must actively challenge and rectify the structural inequalities and biases that persist, and create an environment where justice isn’t just an ideal but a lived reality for all. Together, as we champion these principles, we will pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future where every citizen can realize their full potential.
Support for the LGBTQ+ community is fundamental to ensuring all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, are treated with dignity and respect. Advocating for their rights makes our society truly inclusive, where everyone has equal access to opportunities and protection from discrimination. I condemn efforts to marginalize or discriminate against members of the LGBTQ+ community.
